The national day is the day that King Abdulaziz al Saoed founded the country of Saudi Arabia.

The king reunited a lot of tribes and cities of almost a half continent in a few days with a few man and made it into Saudi Arabia as we know it now. The Saudis celebrate how he changed their world and made the country one of the richest countries in the world. The day is national mostly celebrated by activities on schools, speeches, regular receptions and the King, leading princes and ministers have their reception on live television. (Source)
